He
takes no prisoners and fears nobody. He is hot, fresh and daring. He is the
one-man riot squad who cannot wait to give all the major rappers in Nigeria a
run for their money.
Not
caring whose ox is gored, he says to everyone’s hearing “I am G-WILZ. I am the
King of the Word, the Toastmaster-General and the Minister of Rap. I am
lyrically licensed to kill!”
You
better get used to the name, G-WILZ because from Saturday, March 4, when TOPS,
the hottest music label in town, unleashes an Extended Play of G-WILZ, the rap
music scene in Nigeria will no longer be the same. G-WILZ will own the streets.
The
G-WILZ extended play will contain three hot songs: ‘Karma’, ‘Asiwaju’ and ‘Remember
Me’ You can bet that soon after, girls everywhere will swoon to the music of G-WILZ
and recite his lines, word for word.
That
was exactly what happened on Valentine’s Day when G-WILZ was invited to show a
little of his stuff at “LOVE AT COSON”, the fun event organized in Lagos by Copyright
Society of Nigeria. When G-WILZ picked up the microphone and began to do his
thing, it was pure magic. All the girls at the venue let loose and rocked with
him. It was love at first sight.
G-WILZ
has the uncanny ability to start a rap line in uppity English, swing to Igbo,
pivot to Yoruba, come back to pidgin while keeping the beat pumping. He is an
original street boy and has the scars to prove it. He has earned every degree
you can earn in the University of ‘Hard Knocks’. On his way to fame, he has
done every un-fancied job you can imagine. Not too long ago, he was a barber,
cutting fancy hairstyles in the Egbeda, Idimu and Gowon Estate areas of Lagos.
For
several months, the unique sound of G-WILZ, a Libra born on October 1,
Nigeria’s Independence Day, has been roasted, toasted and cooked in the TOPS
kitchen. The music of G-WILZ is one of the very exciting delicacies being
garnished in the kitchen of TOPS, the hot music production, publishing,
distribution and events company which in 2017 has released Tony Okoroji’s new
hit song, “Happy Music”, following up quickly with the release of “Lovinjaitis”
and “Ifunanya” from KASI, the June 12 Girl.
Says
G-WILZ, “We are all young and creatively crazy at TOPS: song writers, singers,
producers, choreographers, managers, etc. We break every rule and create new
rules. Nobody can stop me now because finally, G-WILZ is doing that which he
had for a long time prayed to do for free. The stupid thing is that I am
getting paid for it!
“I
am sorry for all those guys out there making a lot of noise. Very soon, they
will have to deal with G-WILZ. I am the King of the Word, the
Toastmaster-General and the Minister of Rap. I am completely independent, born
on October 1. I am lyrically licensed to kill!”
Please
don’t stand on the way. G-WILZ is coming. The date is March 4!
